Bonding with Microsoft Support

Today I spent the afternoon being tortured by Microsoft Customer Care, located in the Philippines. Specifically, Robert (alias v-2robev) tortured me and got me as frustrated and angry as I can remember being in years. He toyed with me, asking meaningless questions in a well-rehearsed polite voice while promising me no hope whatsoever. It was only after more than 30 minutes as his victim that he told me they don't have access to the database that shows our team is a Microsoft Partner. He then said I'd have to call a different number. I did, they verified that we're a MS Partner, then they transferred me back to Robert's unit for care! It was very painful.

I confess that I had to pray afterward, asking God to forgive me for hating Robert in my heart and asking him to bless Robert with the joy of salvation. What a day.

Now be fair Nick.... You were calling overseas support for an issue with installing a Beta product. I'm surprised he tried to help you at all! :)

MS routed my call to the Philippines unit instead of directly to support. I had completely uninstalled Office Mac:2008 and then installed it fresh-- including all updates... but it wouldn't run! His torture was part of me trying to get to support and had nothing to do with the beta I had uninstalled. He wouldn't create a case for me, nor could he seem to find a supervisor.

I think I was okay in what I was asking... but not in how frustrated and angry I got. Thus my confession...

Going on 7 hours with support over an Outlook issue. I have been transferred, hung up on, told that I couldn't speak to a supervisor and re routed back to the "customer service" about5 times.
